What do the British think of the commotion and bad behavior at America’s Town Hall meetings?
Posted in Health Insurance - Free QuotesAs an American, I am a little embarrassed about the behavior of some of our citizens at "Town Hall Meetings" where health reform is being dialogued. Maybe you’ve seen them on TV. Despite the white and blue hair and slightly bent postures, they are hired agents provocateurs who have been disrupting the meetings with carefully calculated outbursts, etc. Some melees have apparently occurred, as well. I think it’s the most revolting American behavior since the bad years. To resist health care reform like that, to state that you are not going to pay for another’s insurance because "they’re too lazy to get a job," to serve notice that they’re willing to be led by the nose kicking and screaming by lobbyists to make their point is really disappointing. They can do better, I believe, as we will only be subsidizing ~1/3 of the nation. Those bloody insurance companies and probably the American Medical Association is behind this, I’m sure. Anyway, to think that all 305,000,000 Americans have a fair shot at earning a decent wage to pay for health care privately is damning evidence that my fellow country men are not only at times greedy, but also down right mendacious.

No I don’t really know about this .. seems there are steps afoot to try to emulate the UK National Health Service, with free care for all, both primary care at Doctors surgeries but also hospital care in more serious cases . Lots of side offshoots, including maternity and mental support as well .. Everybody in work pays for the benefit of all . To protest about this seem most unsocial and and saying I only care about me . The rest can suffer ,, What nasty people who have that attitude .

I am sorry to say it, but local American politics is not widely discussed in the UK, in pubs or anywhere else. We have our NHS which the whole nation loves. I was amazed to see a piece of anti-NHS propaganda on CBS, where they used a story of one single person who had been denied a new drug the NHS has not yet approved, and somehow presented this situation as being typical of everyone’s story in the UK, when in fact most people are extremely satisfied with the level of service they get for their money.
