   I had one on each ovary that was found during my baseline sonogram. One was 22mm and the other was a little smaller. My E2 (estrogen) was low and the cysts were not active, they were just left over follicles from another IVF cycle (If you have not gone through a cycle your cyst is left over from ovulation). As long as your E2 was nice and low, under 50, your cyst is not active and will not gobble up the drugs you take to stimulate your ovaries (stims). I was worried too when they found mine and thought my cycle would be cancelled. I continued and my cysts went away. If your E2 is low, the follicles will just close up when starting your stims. I found that lots of gals continue with stims if their cyst is not active.

   Your RE may wait until you start your AF (If you haven’t) to see if it shrinks if your cyst is active. Usually, if your cyst is not shrinking your RE will put you on BCP’s for another week or two to shrink it. If it is still not shrinking, cysts get aspirated by the same procedure they use to aspirate our follicles.

   I’m not an expert but I don’t think you can get rid of them…ovarian cysts are just there…you can concieve with them though.

   I’m sorry to hear your cycle is in jeopardy! I’ve been through 2 IVF cycles and was always nervous that something would go wrong. At least they found it early so you didn’t start already, (I know, it still sucks!) I really hope it goes down, but if for some reason they can’t proceed, don’t get too upset. You don’t want the cyst to be the reason that it didn’t work after going through everything. I really hope everything works out for you!

   The exact same thing happened to me in July. My cyst was producing high levels and my cycle was cancelled. I was devastated at the time, but talked to a counseler and learned to deal with it. I was taken off all meds, they said it should go a way with my next period. A couple weeks later, I had them scan me again and it was still there, and bigger! They gave me an HCG shot to "ovulate" it, went back a couple weeks later and it was finally gone. They started me on BCP that day to hopefully suppress my ovaries and I get checked again tomorrow to see if I can start lupron and progress with this next IVF cycle.

   All in all, this wasted about two months of time waiting. Hopefully, I won’t have any cysts tomorrow.

   It all depends on your estradiol levels. Hopefull we both will be able to go forward this time!!!
