Help with ME (chronic fatigue syndrome)?
Posted in ContributorsLast year I got Glandular Fever which really damaged my body and so it turned into ME. I appeared to be finally getting better and was back to normal, but very recently, I have begun to feel really sick and this has been followed with the terrible exhaustion that I cannot seem to shake off. I think the ME is back…does anyone have any tips for getting rid of this awful illness asap? I would be very grateful for any advice! Thank you!

ME is not a symptom, it is a disease in its own rights and please don’t listen to other peoples narrow minded opinions. They have no idea who awful ME is.
The best thing you can do is take one day at a time, never over do it. Eat as healthily as you can. A routine always helps if you are having trouble sleeping. Also a little bit of exercise is a good idea but only a little bit at a time, such as swimming and increase the levels you can do gradually.
Unfortunately there is no quick fix just make sure you listen to your body!

A few years ago, parliament managed to find time to pass a law that said ME is a disease, so I’m breaking the law by telling you it’s a symptom.
Glandular fever is a debilitating disease that can take a few years to clear up completely. The knock-on effect is to cause sever disruption to your body’s chemical messengers. One of the results can be extreme fatigue. Don’t worry, it will clear up eventually.
You can minimise the problem by ensuring that you get plenty of iron in your diet (you could take a supplement, but make sure not to take more than 11mg daily). Also regularise your blood sugar levels by not eating sugary snacks or drinks.

Hiya, I can really sympathise with you. I had glandular fever when I was 16 and never fully recovered. When I was 18 I was still suffering from terrible aching all over (like flu), stomach upsets, terrible fatigue and lack of sleep. I was diagnosed at 18 with fibromyalgia which is also linked to ME. I have had it ever since, and have really good days and really bad days. The only thing I can suggest is try and have a good diet, drink lots of fluids, try and get as much good quality sleep as you can and do some gentle exercise. I know when you are so exhausted, the last thing you probably want to do is exericse, but gentle walking or other gentle aerobic exercise really does help. Good luck and my sympathies to you. x

ME is often a misdiagnosis-it may be an idea to seek a second opinion-Often there is an infection behind ME,MS and many other conditions,often that doctors dont understand.
The hospital below will give a second opinion and other information below should be read .

I never heared of this illness before, maybe you should go to your doctor. Or go to the hospital. The DOCTORS are supposed to tell you how to get rid of it. Not only people in this world that you don’t know. But I hope you get better asap!!
