MRSA - Does it occur more in NHS or Private Hospitals, and why?

Monday, November 30th, 2009

Is there somewhere I can go to get the statistics? I’m just curious really and just thinking I should get Private medical insurance to avoid getting ‘kicked when I’m down’.

Cheers! Chris

Side note: I know of too many people who have caught it themselves, I don’t claim to have a ’suitable test group’, but I know it’s a problem. I’m not personally convinced that it’s the fault of the patients visitors, especially considering that some of those that I have contracted it, were fairly lonely and possibly had one visitor per week. Now it’s fairly unlucky that there only visitor would infect them?

Does anyone have an idea on price for a breast enlargement with a few nights stay over in hospital?

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

Im looking for a boob job from 32a to 32c, im 22, very slim, have wanted this for 7years now. I was looking at Jan Stanet (from C4 Ten years younger show) as he is probably the best in the UK for this.
Imagine this is around £5500. Can anyone recommend a practice or private hospital for a good procedure AND to stay over a few days- as i want to be fully taken care of- i hate pain. Any idea of price to stay over in hospital afterwards?

How much does an early scan cost at a Nuffield hospital?

Friday, November 27th, 2009

Had a miscarriage a couple of month ago and have decided that with my next pregnancy I would like to go to a private scan at 8/9 weeks. I think I only have a Nuffield hospital near me. Tried to find out cost but will have to wait to speak to someone on Monday. Can anyone say how much it cost them?
Unfortunately I can’t bring up any information on the internet. Nuffield page doesn’t give prices- such a pain!

someone is in a hospital and she si going to be certified for not taking her insulin.?

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

This lady is old, has lost her hubbie earlier this yr and diabetic.
she goes to a private hospital for a check last week, admitted due to high sugar level. But shockingly now, i hear they are about to certify her and transfer her to a psychiatric hospital -reason quoted tth she is not taking her insulin. Wht can be done to prevent this? She is not a danger to herself or to anybody else and she has no history of mental illness ever. She actually cared fr her disabled hubbie many, many yrs! I am extremely worried thsi might be the end of her. Aprreciate all yr help. Thanks.
L
she is very young looking and sharp and sound in mind. she is feeling lonely and rt till the day she went fr check she was taking her insulin propmptly.
Her GP did not arrange any help or care via social services at all and left to fend fr herslf.
whn sugar levels are high she needs nursing to help her get better, she is probably too weak and tired wth high levels. i do nto believe tth she actually refused insulin.

she was sectioned under sec 5at this private hospital, now being reviewed. I hope she can come back home and get some proper care arranged by her local doctors and care services.
This lady now in alte 80’s, has a broken knee -operated on twice now due to bad surgery, broken wrist, and broken 2 ribs too on top of her loss of only family she had -her hubbie. She and her husband are war vetrans, later she had own business in London and this is the kind of treatment one gets at a private hospital! They did not inform her realtives or anyone.
Thanks fr all yr help.

Blood Donors In Wales can stipulate that priority for their blood should be given to NHS patients?

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

do you hate the idea of doctors and hospitals selling your blood when you queued up to give it for free?

do you think that since you gave it free others shouldn’t be allowed to profit from it? Mind you, I don’t know if private hospitals have to buy it from the NHS, but I’m pretty sure that even if they do, they add a bit on for themselves.

Do you think the idea should be extended to cover other parts of the UK, or even other types of donations?

NHS vs Private wisdom tooth removal (UK answers only)?

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

I am on the waiting list to have two lower impacted wisdom teeth removed. I rang today and they said im looking at waiting 16 weeks to see a consultant. I was put on the waiting list back in August. :(
(my dentist recommended having general ana because of the position of my teeth so I am on the hospital waiting list)

but my right lower jaw is constantly aching because the impacted tooth is pushing all my teeth on that side forward (and my once perfectly brace-straight bottom teeth are wonky and being pushed out :( so they are aching at the front too!

so how much is it (£) to have wisdom teeth removed privately in the UK?
did you ask your dentist to recommend you or did you have to find a private hospital yourself?
how does this all work? im confused about how i should go about it?
how long was it between booking the app and having them removed

thanks
